  • Conclusion

Many owners of a dishwasher know the problem. The dishes are placed in the dishwasher, the tab and the salt and rinse aid are added and the start button is pressed. After the flushing process, the acoustic signal in the kitchen and you want to clear the dishwasher. Now comes the discovery. The dishwasher was not or only marginally dissolved and the plates, the pots and cutlery are still dirty with food leftovers. Sometimes it's just a matter of a lower-quality tab. However, there are usually other causes that you have to look for in the dishwasher and can not blame the manufacturer of the tabs.

Cause research - here are the reasons

If the tab does not resolve several times, you should go to the troubleshooting and get to the root of the cause. This is often found easier than one initially believes. Because non-resolving tabs are rarely a case for the craftsman, since the dishwasher is not defective, but perhaps only set to full or set too low a temperature. If the tabs do not resolve, the following visual checks are helpful:

  • Is a savings or eco program used?
    • Changing to a higher temperature helps.
  • Are the tabs for saving rinses suitable?
    • Some tabs can only be used for higher temperatures.
  • How full is the dishwasher?
    • Overloading may hinder the complete rotation of the rinse arms.
  • Are the rinse arms clogged?
    • Lime marks on the nozzles give a hint.
  • Is the heating element defective?
    • Rinse hot here and interrupt the program in the middle of the test.

For the visual inspection of your dishwasher you need no craftsman, but only bright light, a tea towel and various tabs.

You need this:

  • a flashlight to control the nozzles on the spray arms
  • different tabs (if the wrong type is used for the respective rinse)
  • a tea towel to clean the spray arms and make the lime test

Visual inspection in daylight and schedule for about one hour . If the tab does not dissolve even at higher temperatures, the problem may be due to a too full dishwasher. Here it is recommended to remove large pots or bowls from the upper compartment and to check by hand whether the spray arms rotate smoothly and allow water to flow into the container of the tab. If this is not the case, some nozzles may be clogged and descaling may be necessary.

Cheap tabs are worse off ">

A rinse with large pots and bowls usually leads to problems. If the spray arms can not turn properly and completely, consequential damage may result. If this problem occurs more often, the engine burns through and the dishwasher is only to be repaired by a specialist or must be replaced. The highest attention with non-dissolving tabs in the dishwasher should therefore be directed to the load.

But also the cleanliness of the tab tray can be the cause in question. Here it is advisable to stow the tab alternatively directly in the cutlery box and to disregard the space provided for him in the dishwasher. Cleaning often also helps if the compartment is soiled by tab remains or limescale and does not allow water to pass through.

The fact is: non-resolving tabs have only in the least cases something to do with poorer quality and the desired savings in the purchase. Much more often, the problem is "home-made" and is due to the inadequate cleaning intervals of the dishwasher, the absence of descalers or simply too high a load.

Proper washing temperature

For lightly soiled dishes, the manufacturer of a dishwasher recommends the eco or gentle rinse cycle at a lower temperature. If a tab does not dissolve, it may be due to cold water. Many very dense and hard tabs are not suitable for use in low temperature rinse cycles, which eliminates the tab and problem as the temperature in the dishwasher increases and another program is selected. Before picking up the phone and assigning a craftsman with the exam, you should play through all the options and can save a lot of money. Older dishwashers usually have a calcified heating element, so that the displayed temperatures do not match the real temperature in the dishwasher. In this case, the manual support is necessary, however, should the descaling bring no improvement and even in programs with very hot temperatures do not get the desired cleanliness.

In addition to eco and austerity programs, special short programs are a challenge for every dishwasher. Because not only the colder temperature, but also the shorter rinsing time can prevent the dissolution. It also causes the tab to be resolved only at the edges. If the heating element is complete, the tab usually dissolves easily in a hotter program. Otherwise, the dishwasher is broken and it is not on the tab, so that the problem is not so easy to fix and can be solved without a craftsman.

The dishwasher is not a sealed book. Especially modern and high-quality models are produced in such a way that they prove their quality and attract attention with long-lasting properties. If a tab does not dissolve, that does not have to be primarily due to the dishwasher. Too low a rinse temperature, too full load, or incorrect tab positioning are the most common causes of dirty dishes after a rinse. With a sample on the test, the reorientation to a new program and the transfer of the tabs in the cutlery basket, the problem is usually solved and the dishwasher cleans again. A calcification of the nozzles on the spray arms can come as a cause in question. This can be easily determined by going with the flashlight on the search for visible traces of lime. Cleaning with a descaler is helpful and restores the functionality of the dishwasher.

Tip: The dishwasher should be decalcified at least once a week. Especially in regions with very calcareous water, this measure proves to be extremely helpful. This excludes that nozzles are closed and the heating element is no longer sufficiently tempered. Even if eco and economy rinse saves money, they are at the expense of the dishwasher and lead to defects in the long run. Better: rinse hot and thus increase the longevity of the device.
