Many owners of a dishwasher know the problem. The dishes are placed in the dishwasher, the tab and the salt and rinse aid are added and the start button is pressed. After the flushing process, the acoustic signal in the kitchen and you want to clear the dishwasher. Now comes the discovery. The dishwasher was not or only marginally dissolved and the plates, the pots and cutlery are still dirty with food leftovers. Sometimes it's just a matter of a lower-quality tab. If the tab does not resolve several times, you should go to the troubleshooting and get to the root of the cause. This is often found easier than one initially believes. - Some tabs can only be used for higher temperatures.
- How full is the dishwasher?
- Overloading may hinder the complete rotation of the rinse arms.
- Are the rinse arms clogged?
- Lime marks on the nozzles give a hint.
- Is the heating element defective?
- Rinse hot here and interrupt the program in the middle of the test.
For the visual inspection of your dishwasher you need no craftsman, but only bright light, a tea towel and various tabs.
You need this:
- a flashlight to control the nozzles on the spray arms
- different tabs (if the wrong type is used for the respective rinse)
- a tea towel to clean the spray arms and make the lime test
Visual inspection in daylight and schedule for about one hour . If the tab does not dissolve even at higher temperatures, the problem may be due to a too full dishwasher. Here it is recommended to remove large pots or bowls from the upper compartment and to check by hand whether the spray arms rotate smoothly and allow water to flow into the container of the tab. If this is not the case, some nozzles may be clogged and descaling may be necessary.

Tip: The dishwasher should be decalcified at least once a week. Especially in regions with very calcareous water, this measure proves to be extremely helpful. This excludes that nozzles are closed and the heating element is no longer sufficiently tempered. Even if eco and economy rinse saves money, they are at the expense of the dishwasher and lead to defects in the long run. Better: rinse hot and thus increase the longevity of the device.
